Nigerian Afrobeats superstar David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has warned President Bola Tinubu that he would seek the attention of United States President Donald Trump if the forthcoming Osun State governorship election is compromised.
Davido made the remark during a live session with comedian Carter Efe, where he stressed the need for a free, fair and credible electoral process.
The award-winning singer said he would not remain silent if the integrity of the August 15 governorship election was undermined.
"I will involve Trump if anything goes wrong in the Osun election," Davido declared.
He added that he would draw international attention to any alleged electoral malpractice.
The singer's comments come ahead of the governorship election in which the incumbent governor, Ademola Adeleke—Davido's uncle—is seeking a second term in office.
Davido has been actively involved in the governor's re-election campaign and has consistently called on electoral authorities and security agencies to ensure that the poll is conducted in a transparent, peaceful and credible manner.
