Somalia government has put all hands on deck in increasing the number of educated children across the country as a campaign which would get one million more children to school was launched.

CEOAFRICA.com gathered that the campaign tagged “Go 2 School initiative” started simultaneously in Mogadishu, Somaliland and Puntland. The programme is being supported by the UNICEF at a cost of $117 million.

Analysts explained that level of education in Somalia is very low, as only four out of ten children in the country currently attend school. Mostly affected are girls with one out of three in school.

After two decades of civil war, aid agencies say Somalia's formal education system has almost completely collapsed.
