Nigerian businessman, Prince Isaac Fayose, has criticised Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, over his recent political engagements with leaders of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), despite allegations that about 29 of his supporters were killed during the recently concluded governorship election.

Ahead of the August 15 poll, Adeleke, the Accord Party candidate, had raised the alarm over alleged attacks on his supporters, accusing suspected APC thugs of killing members of his party.

The APC, however, dismissed the allegation and countered that thugs allegedly linked to Adeleke were responsible for the deaths of more than 20 of its supporters.

Despite the competing allegations, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Adeleke the winner of the election.

However, the governor’s meetings with prominent APC figures shortly after the election, including President Bola Tinubu, sparked reactions among some of his supporters.

Some supporters questioned Adeleke’s new political engagements, particularly his decision to meet with members of the party he had previously accused of working against his supporters.

Reacting to the development in a post on his official Facebook page, Fayose questioned why Adeleke was now “feasting” with those he described as his alleged oppressors.

“29 people died fighting for Adeleke, and the same Adeleke is now with the oppressors. What a country!” Fayose said.

He also referred to conflicting allegations over campaign spending by the two major political camps.

According to Fayose, Davido’s father had alleged that the APC spent N60 billion on the election, while former Ekiti State Governor, Ayo Fayose, reportedly claimed that the Accord Party spent N40 billion.

“This means that both parties spent N100 billion on the governorship election. If you shared that N100 billion among the people, do you know how many lives you would touch? And this is taxpayers’ money,” he added.
