The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has restored its Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS) after a temporary disruption, directing tertiary institutions to accelerate the admission process for the 2026/2027 academic session.

The board, in a statement issued on Monday, confirmed that the platform was fully operational and urged candidates to promptly accept admission offers available to them.

JAMB also directed institutions to make up for the time lost during the disruption and ensure that their admission exercises are concluded within the approved deadlines.

Public universities are expected to complete their admissions by October 31, 2026, while private universities have been given until November 30, 2026.

For other tertiary institutions, the deadline for completing admissions is December 31, 2026.

The board also advised candidates who had been awaiting their examination results to upload or verify their credentials following the release of the 2026 National Examinations Council (NECO) Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) results.

According to JAMB, updating the results will ensure that candidates are properly considered for admission as institutions intensify their admission activities.

The board apologised to candidates and other stakeholders for the inconvenience caused by the temporary disruption and thanked them for their patience and understanding.

CAPS is JAMB’s electronic platform for processing admissions into Nigerian tertiary institutions. It allows institutions to recommend candidates for admission, while candidates can use the system to monitor and accept admission offers.
