A woman reportedly identified as Nigeria’s Ebola index patient has been evacuated abroad aboard a medical air ambulance, according to a report by ARISE News.

The evacuation reportedly occurred early Monday morning at the private jet section of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja, amid heightened security around the airport’s private wing.

Sources cited by ARISE News said a convoy of three vehicles, comprising ambulances and diplomatic vehicles, arrived at the facility ahead of the evacuation. Airport officials reportedly cordoned off the area as arrangements were made for the woman’s departure.

The news outlet also reported that it obtained video footage showing a medical evacuation aircraft preparing to transport the patient out of Nigeria.

According to the report, the woman is the wife of a Swiss diplomat serving in the country. However, details concerning her medical condition, the destination of the aircraft and the circumstances surrounding the reported evacuation were not immediately available.

As of the time of the report, the Federal Government had yet to issue an official statement confirming the woman’s reported Ebola status or evacuation.

The development has raised questions about the circumstances surrounding the reported case, with further clarification from the relevant health authorities needed to establish the facts and provide accurate information about the situation.
