GOVERNOR KAYODE FAYEMI OF EKITI STATE
Governor Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State has on Monday, inaugurated the renovation of 18 general hospitals in the state at the cost of N1 billion.
COEAFRICA news desk gathered according to the declaration of Governor Fayemi during the inauguration tagged “Operation Renovate All General Hospitals” at Iyin-EkitiIyin-Ekiti, that ensuring good health is part of the eight-point-agenda of the administration.
According to him, the 300-bed Oba Rufus Adejugbe General Hospital under construction in Ado Ekiti would also be completed soon to lift the burden of primary and some secondary health issues off the Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital.
He disclosed that the programme was anchored on the progressive ideology of free health services pioneered by Chief Obafemi Awolowo and concretized by Major General Adeyinka Adebayo during the Old Western Region.
He however explained that the renovation of existing hospitals and the construction of new ones became imperative to serve as feeder stations between the primary health centres and EKSUTH, the only state-owned tertiary hospital in the state.
