The Federal Road Safety Corps has detected 600 individuals involved in cases of impersonation and multiply application for driver’s license.

CEOAFRICA desk gathered that the FRSC had detected these individuals through the use of their agency’s digital biometric system which detect anomalies and has referred to the State Security Service to be investigated.

According to the report, many of the applicants had applied for the license in two or more states, using fake names and identities.

The Special Assistant to the FRSC Corps Marshal, Janet Adepegba, who disclosed this development, explained that the biometric system alerted officials to the multiple applications and impersonation.

Adepegba attributed the delay in driver’s licence issuance to the need for thorough background checks on all applicants to ensure that the vital security document was not issued to impersonators.

She added that the FRSC call centre operates round the clock with 30 personnel taking emergency calls from the public in case of traffic accident, fire outbreak, flooding and any other disaster.
