The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has declared the commission has charged 368 financial crime cases to court and recorded 80 convictions at the close of August, 2013.

CEOAFRICA gathered from the released statistic of the commission that N6,583,108,350; $19,251,519; 20,520 Euros and 19,000 Pounds Sterling were recovered from those involved in financial crime.

The commission also disclosed that it has intensified beyond these discoveries, the prosecution of politically exposed persons, failed bank executives, captains of industries, beneficiaries of fraudulent oil subsidy payments and senior civil servants involved in pension fraud.

The Commission’s Head of Media and Publicity, Mr. Wilson Uwujaren purported that cases for which investigations have been concluded, would be charged to courts across the zones, adding that the Commission will not be cowed by insinuations which are clearly unfounded.

He asserted however that Nigerians can be assured that only those who run against the law have reason to entertain fear of the EFCC.
