A Nigerian Federal Lawmaker empowers over 500 people

 The Lawmaker representing Ibadan South-West/North-west Federal Constituency in the National Assembly, Hon. Saheed Akinade Fijabi, has tasked government at different levels to promote vocational and entrepreneurship training in order to tackle the problem of poverty in the country.

The Federal Lawmaker gave this advice while speaking during the distribution of poverty alleviation materials to the people of his constituency as part of his empowerment programme, which tool place at the Olubadan Staduium, Ibadan on Monday evening.Items such as Chest Freezers, Electric Cookers, Hair Dressing Driers, Sewing Machines, Generating Sets, Motorcycles etc worth several millions of naira were distributed freely to about 500 beneficiaries from all the nooks and crannies of the Federal Constituency.

The wife of the Governor Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo state, Chief( Mrs.) Florence Abiola Ajimobi, and other political leaders from the constituency graced the occasion.Speaking on the reason why he decided to embark on the empowerment programme, the Lawmaker said items would go a long way in reducing the level of poverty among the people of the constituency.

Fijabi revealed that apart from the distributed items, he has also established a vocational training centre at UMC area of Ibadan, where youths in the constituency will go to acquire technical skills free of charge.He, therefore, urged the beneficiaries to go for skill acquisition training at the centre, saying that the promotion of vocational and entrepreneurship training is key to poverty eradication in the society.
