GAMBIAN GOVERNMENT LAUNCHES US$28M AGRICULTURAL PROJECT

Gambian government through the Ministry of agriculture and its development partner – the Global Agricultural and Food Security Programme (GAFSP) has launched a US$28M National Food and Agricultural Sector Development Project (FSADEP) at the Kairaba Beach Hotel.

CEOAFRICA news desk gathered that the project which was also achieved with the technical supervisory assistance from African Development Bank (ADB) is expected to push agricultural production and alleviate poverty in the country.

The Gambian minister of Agriculture, Solomon Owen explained that the project was on time to counter the persistent challenges in improving food security for the poor and vulnerable.  

The AFDB representative, Oladapo Olagoke said the grant seeks to reduce rural household poverty, food insecurity and malnutrition, through increased agricultural production and promotion of agricultural commercialization.
