President Goodluck Jonathan has charged African leaders on the need to make greater efforts towards achieving significant improvements on the continent’s human capital development.

President Goodluck who set this track while speaking at an audience with Zambia’s new High Commissioner to Nigeria, Lieutnant-Colonel Bizwayo Newton Nkunika, also noted that the political independence attained by the continent could only manifest more on the citizens when it translate to visible improvements in human development.

He observed that while notable macro-economic growth had been achieved across the continent in the recent years, African leaders must now focus more on translating such gains into improved living conditions for their people.

He also maintained that African leaders needed to prioritize job creation and poverty reduction and urged them to fulfill promises of opening up their economies to greater regional and intra-continental trade.

President GoodLuck highlighted to the African Leaders that improved trade and investment remained very critical for job creation and reduced poverty in the continent.

He however assured them that Nigeria will continue to encourage intra-African trade and business as that will help to move the continent forward.
