In the interest of the nation and as a means of regulating the conduct of players and officials representing the country at any point in time, the Nigeria Football Federation Executive Committee has endorsed a proposal for all players and officials of the national teams to sign a code of conduct.

The decision will be implemented, beginning with the contingent to the FIFA U-20 World Cup in New Zealand and the FIFA Women’s World Cup in Canada.

This was one of the resolutions by the committee in the aftermath of its meeting at the Transcorp Hilton in Abuja yesterday.

According to the communiqué, elections into the boards of the various leagues (Nigeria National League, Nigeria Women League and the Nigeria Nation-wide League) will be conducted in November 2015, with the process to commence in August 2015.

Also, the committee endorsed a memo for the enactment of a regulation for the protection of players of the nation’s age-grade teams and the establishment of the NFF Youth Players Development Fund. The legal committee was saddled with working out details of this after meeting with and rubbing minds with relevant stakeholders.

Concerned with the spate at which private bodies and individuals flagrantly make use of football for promotional purposes, the executive committee endorsed a memo for the enactment of a regulation to control the use of the game by corporate bodies and individuals for commercial and promotional purposes. The legal committee will work out details of this after meeting with relevant stakeholders and looking through the books.
