From Ebonyi State in Nigeria, CEOAFRICA.com gathered that a collapsed three storey building under construction in Amasiri, Afikpo North Local Government, has killed one person.

The building collapsed few hours ago, and as at press time, the identity of the person that dies cannot be ascertained.

Confirming the incident, Spokesperson of the Nigeria Police, Ebonyi State Command, DSP Sylvester Igbo said the information was retrieved by the police and quickly mobilized a team of police men to the scene in ensuring the safety of the people.

According to sources, all efforts to rescue the trapped person, who was alive when the police first arrived at the scene of the incident, proved abortive due to lack of effective rescue equipment.

DSP Sylvester Igbo also said the assistant site engineer of the building has been arrested while efforts are ongoing to apprehend the site engineer.

He then assured that investigation have commenced to unravel the cause of the collapse.
