The residents of Lafia, the Nasarawa State capital, have called on Governor Umaru Tanko Al-makura to put to an end the lingering water scarcity in Lafia and its environs.

The residents who made their plight known yesterday to Daily Independent said, the inability of the state government to put to an problem the of water in Lafia and its environs had been affecting commercial activities within the metropolis.

Mallam Muhammadu and Mrs. Patience Kyari who are residents of Makurdi Road in Lafia said the situation was eating deep into their pocket as they buy water from water hawkers on daily basis which usually cost them N300 per truck.

Some residents who did not want their names in print flayed the state water board for failure to addresse the lingering water problem.

When contacted, the acting General Manager, Nasarawa State Water Board, Mr. Simon Adigidzi, he explained that there was technical fault from the Lafia water treatment plant.

He said that government was on top of the situation.

He appealed to residents to exercise a little patience with the board as the problem would soon be over.
