Governor Jonan Jang of Plateau State has condemned with strong terms, calls by a group headed by Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi, that the country’s Finance Minister, who also doubled as Supervisory Minister of Economy, Dr. Ngozi Iweala , should resign from office.

Yesterday, Governor Chibuike Amaechi led Nigeria Governors’ Forum, NGF, at the end of its 7th meeting held at the Rivers State Governor’s Lodge, issued a communiqué which called for the immediate resignation of  Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, if the Federal Government cannot adhere to the Appropriation Act of 2013.

The meeting had governors of Kano, Zamfara, Lagos, Sokoto, Kwara, Niger, Osun, Oyo, Ogun, Jigawa, Rivers, Ekiti, Adamawa, Borno (Deputy), Nasarawa (Deputy) and Edo (Deputy), in attendance.

Plateau State Governor, Jonah Jang, however question the authority by which the Amaechi-led governors made the call, saying there is only one Nigerian Governors Forum being chaired by himself, and any act, statement or comment made in the name of the forum without the awareness and approval of himself and other members of the executives, should be considered illegal and baseless.
