Man Arraigned In Abeokuta For Beating Girlfriend to Stupor

A 33-year –old man was arraigned at the Abeokuta Magistrate Court yesterday for allegedly beating his girlfriend to a state of stupor, CEOAFRICA.com gathered from Ogun State.

Ikuomola, a resident of 28 Ori-Iyarin Agbeloba in Abeokuta, Ogun State Nigeria, was charged for attempted rape and assault.

According to sources, the Police Prosecutor, Inspector Banji Sangotokun, explained to the court that the offence was committed on August 5 at 6:18p.m at the accused residence. The accused, according to the Prosecutor, attempted to rape the victim and in the process beats her to stupor.

“The accused and the lady had been chatting on Black Berry for a while and had been intimate.

“Ikuomola invited her to his house and when she got there, he locked the door and started beating her mercilessly, forcefully removing her pants and bra.

“It was the neighbours that heard her screams and came to her rescue. They broke the door of the accused apartment.” He said.

Furthermore, the Prosecutor said neighbours met the lady badly beaten, lying nude and unconscious on the floor.

The court ordered that he should be remanded in prison pending further investigation into the matter.
