Angola: Yearend Foot Race Budget Shrinks

The budget for the 2015 edition of the yearend foot-race dubbed "Saint Sylvester" is estimated at 18 million kwanzas, compared to the Akz fifty million of previous editions.

ANGOP has learnt that the budget has been decreased due to the financial situation facing the country, as revealed by the chairman of the Angolan Athletics Federation, Carlos Rosa.

According to the official, due to the budgetary reduction, the monetary amounts to be allocated as prizes have also decreased, thus the winner of the race will get USD 7,500 aqnd not USD 15,000 as in previous events.

Carlos Rosa informed, however, that all is being done to increase the budget to 32 million kwanzas with the help of sponsors.

The 2015 yearend ten-kilometre race will start in Mutamba area, Luanda City's downtown, at 06.00 O'clock pm, with the presence of the provincial governor, Graciano Domingos, who is to give the start shot.

The organisers have also announced that the former long-distance runner Ana Isabel will be the patron of the race.
