A Nigerian-born United States-based Immigration lawyer, Mr Ayodele Mayowa Ojo has urged the Federal Government to be watchful while probing the out-gone administration of Dr Goodluck Jonathan.
It was reported that Mayowa Ojo commended President Buhari for taking bold steps in setting up the machinery to curb corruption in Nigeria.
He said: “I do not go against the process of probing the administration of Jonathan if found guilty. However, Buhari should be watchful while doing that.
“We are following events in Nigeria since President Buhari took over a democratic government. Honestly, I commend him for even saying he does not care to jail members of his cabinet if found guilty of corruption.
“In order for his anti- corruption to be effective, Buhari must live up to his image, even the government before Jonathan should be probed. A thief cannot say that because the other thief has not been arrested or charged, he should not be arrested.
“Any party that is ready to release information that will lead to other discoveries should be given some limited amount of incentives or plea agreement such as reduced jail sentence or suspended penalty anchored on provision information where the other loot are kept.”
On Boko Haram, the Nigerian-American lawyer urged President Barack Obama to fulfil his pledge of helping the Nigerian government combat the murderous sect.
According to him, the US government should send troops to Nigeria and flush out Boko Haram group that is terrorising innocent Nigerians in the northeast.
Mayowa Ojo noted that Nigerian military alone cannot fight the sect, stressing: “Although I commend the Nigerian military for fighting the sect, there is the need to join hands with US Military troops to crush the sect completely.”
