The Kwara State Government is set to facilitate the establishment of a cross-border military formation in the state to forestall trans-border clashes.

Receiving the General Officer Commanding, 2 Division, Nigerian Army Ibadan, Major General Laz Ilo in Ilorin, Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed promised that his administration would continue to partner with the military in carrying out its constitutional responsibility of protecting lives and properties in the state.

The governor also called on security agencies to join hands and synergise in combating the prevailing security challenges in the country.

Governor Ahmed, who praised the 22 Armoured Brigade, Sobi, for playing its role creditably well, noted that there were unprecedented level of cooperation between the state government and the command.

The GOC had earlier in his remarks told the governor that he was in the state as part of familiarisation tour to areas of his operational responsibility. Major General Ilo also acknowledged the mutual relationship between the government and the 22 Armoured Brigade, Sobi, praising the State Government for its developmental projects.

By historical antecedents, according to him, Kwara is a relatively peaceful state and stressed the need to strengthen and sustain the peaceful atmosphere.
