An Abuja based legal practitioner, Dim-Udebuani Marcel has summoned the Federal High Court to declare all appointments made by President Muhammadu Buhari as null and void for being in violation of the constitutional principle of federal character.

The suit has the President and the Chairman Federal Character Commission as defendants.

The plaintiff is contending that the south-east geo-political zone has been totally excluded from all the appointments made so far by President Buhari as against the north-west with thirteen appointments.

In his affidavit in support of the originating summons, Marcel averred that the nature of the appointments made so far favours the president’s north-west zone.

The plaintiff is seeking a constitutional interpretation of section 14, sub section 1 of the 1999 constitution as amended.

The suit also wants the court to compel the President to observe and comply with the constitutional provision in any appointment made
