
THE Kwara State Governor, Dr Abdulfatah Ahmed has reiterated that the newly established Internal Revenue Service will not lead to imposition of new taxes but boost the Internally Generated Revenue through the diversification of the State’s economy.
Gov Ahmed gave the assurance in Ilesha Baruba, Baruten Local Government area of the state during the presentation of staff of office to the new Emir of the town, prof Halidu Abubakar.
According to him, the mandate of State Internal Revenue Service was to change the process of collecting existing taxes by deploying technology to block loopholes and increase efficiency.
Gov Ahmed stressed that with increased revenue, his administration would complete existing projects, establish new ones in all sectors as well as inject additional N2bn into entrepreneurship development scheme.
Gov Ahmed urged the new Emir to serve as a builder of bridges of harmony and peace among the people of his domain and beyond.
