Nigeria, U.S., UK, Spain, Italy are to participate in a three-week joint military training with other special forces from the Netherlands which has already kick off.
According to the Director of Defence Information, Brigadier General Chris Olukolade who disclosed this in Abuja, the exercise would take place at the general area of the South-West and South-South coastal areas.
“It will be facilitated by a combined Mobile Training Teams, MITs, of Marines and Special Forces drawn from The Netherlands, United Kingdom, Spain and Italy under the auspices of African Partnership Station, APS”, Olukolade said.
He moreover explained that the exercise was designed to improve the capacity of Nigeria’s Armed Forces to plan and execute joint operations in the maritime environment, adding that it would also focus on training activities in Joint Maritime Security Training Centre, JMSTC, and the Nigerian Army Amphibious Training School, ATS.
He however noted that the Army, Navy and Air Force were expected to participate in the important training event with the Defence Headquaters, DHQ, monitoring and superintending the exercise.
