The president of The Gambia National Paralympic Committee, Sulayman Colley, has just returned from Brazil, host of the 2016 Olympic Games, where he attended a Chef de Mission seminar ahead of the 2016 Olympic Games.

In a brief chat with Observer Sports shortly after his return, Colley affirmed: "My trip to Brazil was to attend the Chef de Mission seminar in preparation for Rio 2016 looking at the events venues, the plans put in place and the infrastructure, among other necessary things needed for the event."

He added, "It is amazing that most of those structures are really in place and they are really good. We visited the Olympic village and there is about 31 storey buildings [about 17 floors each] and that will suit the entire delegations going from all over the world to the Games."

According to him, the World Cup Maraccana Stadium is going to be the Olympic Stadium where the Paralympic Games will be held.

"The set up there [Brazil] is really promising come Rio 2016 because all the structures and the necessary ground work is put in place by the organisers."

Colley, who was the Chef de Mission for Paralympic in the last London Olympic, said he is also sharing the knowledge gained from the seminar with his colleagues.

He added that his committee is still working towards getting some Paralympians to the qualification zone to get them qualify for the Rio 2016.

He finally renewed his appeal for Government, private and public institutions and individuals to give the much needed support to disabled athletes in addressing some of the constraints confronting the National Paralympic Committee.
