ABUJA–There were indications on Wednesday night that the leadership of the national assembly would be at the presidential villa to see President Muhammadu Buhari.

Details of the meeting that involved the leadership of the Senate and the House of Representatives were not made available.

Time of the meeting was 9pm and the venue was the official residence of President Buhari located within the precinct of the Villa.

When contacted, the Presidential spokesman, Mr. Femi Adesina denied knowledge of the meeting asking if it was scheduled in the official paper.

Though there was no official position as to why the Heads of the federal parliament were meeting with the nation’s chief executive, the atmosphere around the Villa was however heavy with speculations that the visit was not unconnected with the screening of the ministerial nominees which would commence next week Tuesday, October 13.

It will be recalled that a section of the media had been awashed with stories that the presidency was “lobbying” the Senators from the opposition parties to guarantee a hitch-free screening for some Nominees.

Similarly, the president was expected to hold a private meeting with the former President of South Africa, Mr. Thabo Mbeki.

But at the time of filing this report, none of the parties had arrived the Villa for the visit yet.
