Koko Master, D'Banj

D’Banj To Perform In Harare

CEOAFRICA entertainment desk gathered that the famous Nigerian artist, Dapo Daniel Oyebanjo a.k.a D’Banj is one of those African musicians expected at the 2013 edition of the Lion Lager Summer Beer Festival dubbed “Battle of Africa” in Harare, the capital of Zimbabwe.

The Koko Master will be the second artist from Nigeria after P Square who performed at the festival last year.

D’Banj who have won many local and international awards was born in Zaria, Kaduna State to a military  officer who commanded an artillery regiment and a church dignitary mother  who hailed from Shagamu in Ogun State.

He released his debut album “No long thin” was released in 2005, yielding several singles including Tongolo, why me? etc. The success of this album led to collaboration with other artists like Dare Art-Alade, Ikechukwu, etc. The single koko was used by the Peoples Democratic Party (the ruling party in Nigeria) as its campaign theme for the 2007 general elections.

He has also released many albums and singles, including Scape Goat, Igwe, entertainer, Oliver Twist and many more.

His latest release “Top of the world” was used as the official song of the 2013 CAF African Cup on Nations in South Africa, a tournament which was coincidentally won by D’Banj’s country, Nigeria. He performed at the closing ceremony of the tournament in front of close to 90,000 spectators at the Soccer City Stadium.

D’Banj will share the stage with Zimbabwean musicians including the reggae/dancehall star Winky D, Shaddy and Guspy Warrior, coupled with Uganda’s best Bebe Cool.

The event is holding on Saturday, October  12, 2013 at the Glamis Arena in Harare, Harare, Zimbabwe.
