President Helen Johnson Sirleaf Dismissed Top Officials for Gross Misconducts in Liberia

The Liberian President, Helen Johnson Sirleaf has approved the dismissal of some top government officials in the country, CEOAFRICA reports.

In a press release credited to Her Excellency, the officials were dismissed for series of gross misconducts. The dismissed officials are Robert Kilby, Auditor General, the Director General of the General Service Agency, Ms. Pearine Davis-Pakinson, Deputy Minister of Justice for Administration and Public Safety, Col. Freddie Taylor, the Deputy Commissioner of the Bureau of Immigration for Operations, Mr. Robert Budy, and the Director of Border Management, Cllr. Wilson Garpeh

President Sirleaf however directed for further investigation into the dismissal of the officials. “A team to be headed by the Minister of Labour is instructed to conduct further investigation on additional measures to be taken and on the role and action to be taken against the former Solicitor General, Cllr. Micah Wright; the Commissioner of the Bureau of Immigration and Naturalization; and the Honourary Consul, Upjit Sachdeva.”

Meanwhile, the President also approve the suspension of the Deputy Minister for Public Works for Operations, Mr. Victor Smith, pending an investigation into his failure to adhere to the public procurement and financial rules of the Government as relates to the awarding of construction contracts.
