Latest Update 3: APC Governorship candidate, Sen. Dr. Chris Ngige has cast his vote at exactly 1:45pm, as party agents concluded that elders could be accompanied to the polling unit by their children or relatives

Latest Update 2: Former FCT Minister, Mallam el-Rufai has claimed that he was detained by the State Security Service (SSS) in his hotel room in Anambra State.

CEOAFRICA.com correspondent said that the former Minister of FCT also alleged that his phone  were seized in the process.

El- Rufai, who is the APC’s Deputy National Secretary, was sighted at Finotel Hotel, Awka along with Senator Osita Izunaso, where he alleged that the SSS detained him.

Latest Update 1: As the 2013 Anambra State Governorship election continues, soldiers have reportedly apprehended and detained some election observers on their way to Onitsha from Awka.

It was revealed to CEOAFRICA.com that the observers are members of the NBA and Civil Rights Society Group.

Sources disclosed that the observers might have been detained by the soldiers because the names of the groups were not on the updated list of the observers. The original list contained 23 but the updated one contains 28 groups.

INEC Director of Election Monitoring, Bala Ibrahim Shittu, has begun frantic efforts to secure their release.

Meanwhile, at polling units 12 – 16 in Okpuno Otolo Nnewi, some voters were unable to verify their names on the list and it has become frustrating for them.

Some of them said they couldn’t see their names, despite the fact that they registered there and have voted in the past at the same polling unit. They expressed their displeasure which, according to them, was tantamount to disenfranchisement.
