ZAMBIA: ORGANISATION PLANS OVER 50 HOUSES ON COPPERBELT

Habitat for Humanity Zambia plans to spend K2 million on housing mortgages targeting more than 50 low-cost housing units on the Copperbelt next year.

National Director Joseph Munsanje said the organisation would spend K2 million on mortgages which would see more than 50 housing units built in Chipulukusu and Twapia townships in Ndola.

Mr. Munsanje said his organisation was committed to help reduce the housing deficits the country was faced with through provision of housing mortgages to the homeless.

"We are determined to partner with Government and other stakeholders to provide housing loans, especially in the townships where there are serious housing deficit gaps," Mr Munsanje said.

He said two-bed-roomed houses would be costing between K30,000 and K40,000 which he said was cost-effective.

The payment periods for the housing loans will be five years of which beneficiaries will be required to pay between K650 and K700 per
