Borno State Governor, Kashim Shettima, has commended President Muhammadu Buhari and the military on the negotiated freedom of the abducted Chibok schoolgirls

Governor Shettima who gave this commendation in a statement on Sunday, said that the recent release of the 82 schoolgirls was an evidence that the President is at work.

He said “I want to place on record, our very profound gratitude to Mr. President for his sincerity in making the freedom of our daughters one of his top priority of the APC administration.

“The President has since proved his overriding commitment after the first set of girls were released,” the governor said.

He also commended the Nigerian Armed Forces and the Multinational Joint Task Force, including the volunteers that made it possible.

Earlier, the Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to the President, Garba Shehu, said the schoolgirls were released after months of patient negotiations.

“President Buhari is pleased to announce that negotiations to release more of the Chibok girls have borne fruit with the release of 82 more girls today (Saturday) after months of patient negotiations.

“Our security agencies have taken back these abducted girls in exchange for some Boko Haram suspects held by the authorities,” he said.
