It was a harvest of criminals in last two weeks by men of Special Anti Robbery Squad (SARS), Oyo State recording an arrest of about 20 armed robbery suspects from 12 robbery incidences while three ex-convicted robbers were rearrested.
This was revealed by the Commissioner of Police Oyo State Command CP Abiodun Odude while recently briefing news on the successes recorded by the different intelligence formations within the command.
A particular reference was made to arrest of gang of armed hoodlums responsible for the spate of robbery incidents in some part of the state and neighbouring states.
The gang carried out their dastardly act when they attacked a female victim, Adebimpe Suleiman at Felele area of Ibadan snatching away
Sienna Space Wagon car, mobile phones and other valuables from the victim.
Following diligent investigations backed by robust intelligence six members of the gang were picked up at various criminal hideouts in the state by operatives of the command’s Special Anti Robbery Squad and three phones earlier snatched from the victim were recorvered from the arrested suspects.
Opeyemi Alabi, 41, Akeem Owolabi 37 and Akeem Abioye 44 that were once arrested and paraded for armed robbery, later reminded at Agodi prison were rearrested with Abolarinwa Wale 36 and second in-command of the gang, whom the phones were recovered, was also nabbed in connection with the robbery case.
Meanwhile the Federation Of Ibadan Student Union (FIBSU National Council) has commended the leadership of the Oyo State SARS, expressing delight over the success recorded by the security operatives against the dreaded ‘one million boys’ and the notorious criminals popularly known as Ekugbemi.
This was disclosed by President of FIBSU National Council Aare Adeleke Moses, while addressing newsmen after his investiture as the President of the student’s body, saying the residents of Ibadan and its environs has heave sigh of relief after the SARS had won the war against the one million boys.
“I want to use the medium to laud the bravery and courage of the commander of Oyo SARS, SP Sola Aremu who we were told personally led the operations to arrest the leaders of the dreaded gangs.
