Governor Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State has said that he would not relent in his

commitment and desire to make the state a place with abundant peace, love and

harmony which would reflect the bountiful blessings of God in the state, just as he charged Christians in the state to reflect on the life and teachings of Jesus Christ by embracing love and peace in their day-to-day dealings with others.

The governor while speaking at the 2013 annual Christmas carol of Nine Lessons held at the Remembrance Arcade, Government House, Ibadan on Sunday, said “We must constantly imagine a better Oyo State where peace and tranquility will reign; where social benefit will be sufficient; where food will be in abundance; where our people will live happily and be the best they can be.”

The governor’s Special Adviser on Media, Dr Festus Adedayo said in a statement in Ibadan on Monday that the governor also implored religious leaders and the entire people of the state to continue to support his administration in its efforts at taking the state to greater heights.

“I want to implore you all; let us challenge today and demand for a better

tomorrow. Let’s see what it will take to make this state the pride of all,” he said.

Governor Ajimobi called on those in position of authority to always be courageous in the discharge of their responsibilities and be selfless in their service to humanity.“Whenever we are in any privileged position to discharge our responsibilities, let us have the courage to be selfless in order to serve humanity; let us sacrifice for a better tomorrow because a leader must have the vision, the intellect to visualize and the courage to implement,” he said.

In his words of exhortation, the retired Archbishop of Ibadan Catholic Archdiocese,Most Rev. Felix Alaba Job, decried the rate of corruption in the country, stressing the need for leaders to wage war against the scourge.

He urged leaders to place high premium on integrity and dignity, and be more committed to the welfare of the less-privileged.

The 8th and the 9th lessons were read by the Deputy Governor, Chief Moses Alake Adeyemo and the wife of the governor, Mrs. Florence Ajimobi respectively.

Prayers were thereafter offered for peaceful coexistence in the state and God’s protection over the first family and the entire people of the sate.

The carol was attended by church leaders and prominent personalities including the Speaker of the State House of Assemby, Mrs. Monsurat Sunmonu, Ambassador Olusola Saanu, Chief Eddy Oyewole, the state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Mohammed Ndabawa, service chiefs and others.
