NIGERIA (Abuja) – Top officials of the Nigeria Police Force across the country are currently in talk with the Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar, to discuss about various security issues in Nigeria.

The police boss, who spoke with journalists before the commencement of the meeting behind closed door, said the security conditions in each of the 36 states of the Federation, including the Federal Capital Territory shall be reviewed in order to enable the force adopt various strategies to tackle security challenges in the country.

“We are going to pay attention to political situation in Nigeria, and look at the zones and each state of the country.

“We will review the political situations in each state, adjudge and see what the Commissioner of Police has been able to do, and whether he has been able to take care of such situation.

“Where he has challenges, we will look at that challenges and find out the impediments that have stopped him from doing what he is supposed to do to avoid political crisis,’’ he said.

The IGP said there was a need for adequate preparation for the 2015 general elections.

“If elections will take place in 2015, whether we are on board or not, we have the responsibility as an agency of government to ensure that preparation for 2015 starts in 2014,’’ he said.
