The 5th edition of the inter-house sports organized by Qiblah schools’, Dugbe. Ibadan on the 11th October 2017 was won by the red house.
The prestigious Obafemi Awolowo stadium (formerly Liberty Stadium), Ade-Oyo area, Ring Road, Ibadan was a beehive of sporting activities as Qiblah Schools held their biennial sports competition.
According to the proprietor of the school Alhaji Ademola, the programme is the 5th edition and this year’s edition is the best so far. He stated that the purpose of the inter-house sports is to help the students exercise their bodies to be physically fit and also to increase their mental alertness. He proceeded to give parents advice that they should allow their children to engage in sporting activities as this helps in discovering the talented ones and to develop their potentials. He said “as you can see the children are excited because they have been looking forward to seeing a day like this.”
In an interview with CEOAFRICA correspondent, two of the sponsors Alhaja Wuraola Tijani Morufat and Alhaja Halimat Salau, they made it clear that Qiblah Hschools inter-house sports is always encouraging, wonderful, keeps the students physically and mentally fit and that such event can bring out the potentials in talented kids. These among other factor have prompted them to keep supporting the event. They however advised the school management and parents to put in more effort in engaging the students in sporting activities.
However, among the sports that took place are; the 50meter race, 200meter race, 4/100 meter race, and so on.
The inter-house sports competition was put on hold at about 2.00pm so as to observe Zu’r prayers to Almighty Allah.
One of the male students of the school, Abdulsamad Lawal, who was also the red house leader in an interview with CEOAFRICA correspondent, said that “I am always happy when it comes to sports and most importantly I am very happy that we (Red House) are champions.” The red house master Abdulwasiu Badmus was also on ground and shared his excitement as his house won the competition. He stated that the essence of inter house sports competition is to prepare students for any sports competition both local and international.
Above all the Proprietor of Qiblah Schools, Alhaji Ademola, sincerely expressed his gratitude to Almighty Allah for making the 5th edition possible and also showed his gratefulness to the parents, teachers, the guests, and the sponsors for a making the day a reality. He then prayed that Almighty Allah will continue to bless them abundantly because they have there for the school in terms of sponsorship since the first edition even up till now (the 5th edition).
