Information reaching ceoafrica from Wadata Plaza in Wuse 5, Abuja, has revealed that the embattled Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Malam Bamanga Tukur, has submitted his resignation letter to the PDP and the Presidency.

 

The resignation it was gathered, will take effect from Wednesday January 15, 2014. It was also gathered  that the embattled Chairman was forced to step down following a brief meeting with Mr. President who impressed on him that he must resign of face the consequences.

 

Sources disclosed to CEOAFRICA.com that the President had reminded Tukur of a

letter from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) stating that the national executive council of the PDP was illegally constituted.

Mr. President was said to have told the embattled Chairman that the letter can be recalled into play.

 

Tukur was reported to remain adamant until it was revealed to him that the national executive council and the national working committee were ready to cast a vote of no-confidence against him come Thursday January 16, 2014.

To avert the vote of no confidence, Bamanga Tukur hurried a resignation letter – and dated his resignation for January 15, 2014 – after the Muslim holiday.
