Kano State Governor, Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has called on the federal government to map out modalities that will improve the wellbeing of the ex-military men in the country.
Ganduje stated this on Monday while speaking to newsmen shortly after the wreath laying ceremony in commemoration of this year’s Armed Forces Remembrance Day, held in Dotsa village, Kumbotso local government area of Kano state.
The governor said the wellbeing of the ex-military men need to be improved to enable them take good care of the loved ones after serving the country in different capacity during their youthful ages.
He said, “The ex-soldiers have devoted their youthful age for the survival and unity of this country and therefore government should reciprocate the gesture by improving their wellbeing to enable them live a better life.”
Ganduje said government at both state and federal levels should do something cogent that would improve the wellbeing of the ex-military men.
He said present administration had been assisting ex-military men through various ways since he assumed office on May 29, 2015, assuring that he would continue to support them whenever the need arises.
The governor urged the ex-military men to always be proud of the services they rendered to the country, saying “you have fought for the oneness of Nigeria and the country is still one entity.”
This year’s ceremony was held at the new Armed Forces Remembrance Day Ground constructed by Kano state government.
It would be recalled that the Malam Kato Square where the event used to be hold annually was relocated to Dotsa village, Kumbotso local government by the Ganduje-led administration.
