NIGERIA (Abuja)- Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, for the second time in one week, failed to read the defection letter sent to Senate leadership by 11 Senators who recently dumped the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the All Progressives Congress (APC).

It was gathered from the National Assembly that instead of reading the controversial letter as widely expected, the Deputy Senate president, who presided over the plenary due to the absence of the Senate President, David Mark, summoned an emergency closed-door session. The session lasted about 45 minutes.

Sources said the issue (defection letter) was the agenda of the secret meeting.
