The Ibadan based written examination which was organized by the honourable member representing Lagelu/Akinyele Federal Constituency, Chairman House Committee on Urban Development and Regional Planning, Founder of OSF and Oyo state governorship aspirant Hon. Olatoye Temitope Sugar, had 28 students from 28 local government in attendance.

Mr. Oladotun in a chat with CEOAfrica

The Director of training and development for OSF, Mr. Gabriel Oladotun Olatoye while speaking with CEOAfrica at the venue of the just concluded examination testified that the examination was free, credible, transparent and credit worthy.

Responding to a question why there were 28 students instead of the expected 33 students from all the local governments in Oyo state, Mr. Oladotun said ‘‘the competition is opened to all Secondary School Students in the 33 Local Governments in Oyo state. That is, the geopolitical zones of Ibadan, Ibarapa, Ogbomoso, Oke-Ogun and Oyo. The forms were distributed freely and we had over 3,000 Secondary schools who enrolled for the examination.

However, after the first phase of the examination which was conducted in April, 33 students were expected but, like we have said, this competition is to reward academic excellence not just participation. We had 5 local governments where the students who emerged first didn’t score up to 50% and they were automatically disqualified. That is why we have 28 students representing 28 Local Governments in the second phase of OSF Inter-Secondary School Examination. The fact that all Local Governments in Oyo states are expected to participate does not mean we will compromise academic excellence.’’

He appreciated the effort of Hon. Sugar for initiating the competition. ‘‘If we have a lot of people like him in our society, I believe our society and education system will be better than this, he said.’’

So, students who practiced well, will agree it was simple.’’

Mr. Salau Sikiru, a parent from Oke-ogun

A parent who also came with his ward, Mr Salau Sikiru from Oke-ogun appreciated the effort of Hon.Sugar for organizing an impactful programme. ‘‘I am actually delighted that, my son is here today, Hon. Sugar is really trying, he has gone beyond his constituency and this is a wonderful project. I am also amazed at the co-ordination of the competition, the exam was well coordinated.’’

Recall that during the first phase of the examination, the initiator of the competition, Hon. Olatoye Temitope Sugar, said the second runner up will be given a year scholarship and a laptop while the first runner up will be given 2 years scholarship, a laptop and five desktops for his or her school and the winner will be sponsored fully throughout his or her higher education in a federal or state school, he or she will be given a brand new laptop and his or her school will be provided with a brand new hummer bus.
