Kenyan government, CEOAFRICA.com gathered, has suspended the commissioner-in-charge of mining Moses Masibo, while all mining licences issued during the first five months of the year has been revoked.

This decision was taken following series of complaints about the issuing process of those licences.

Kenya has large deposit of titanium, gold and coal, while newly discovered minerals like copper and niobium are said to worth billions of dollars.

While addressing journalists at a press conference, the Kenya Mining minister Najib Balala said the licences in question had been issued in a hurry and without transparency.

"We want to ensure the country gains from the mineral potential. Any licence issued between 14 January and 15 May is hereby revoked immediately as we review each case to determine their nature and benefit to the country." He concluded.
