Men of the Oyo State Police Command has arrested three suspected armed robbers in Ibadan.
The susects, the Leadership learnt on Sunday were arrested at a restaurant at Oluyoro area, Ibadan.
They were alleged to have dispossessed the owner of the restaurant, one Muibat (surname withheld) of the sum of #110,000:00.
The state Commissioner of Police, Muhammed Indabawa who confirmed the incident, said While the hoodlums were escaping, the husband of the victim summoned courage and attacked one of them. He disclosed that one Dayo Olorunniyi was attacked and overwhelmed and subsequently arrested.
According to him, the case which was earlier reported at Agugu Police Station was thereafter transferred to SARS Ibadan where discreet investigation into the case yielded result.
He said painstaking investigation by SARS operatives in Ibadan led to the arrest of other members of the gang who earlier escaped from the robbery scene.
They were Bamidele Kayode and Ademola Olagoke. Items recovered from them include one locally made double barrel pistol, one live cartridge and one Bajaj motorcycle with reg/No. LUY 895 QC, which they took for the robbery operation. He said the suspects would soon be charged to court.
In a related development, policemen from Akobo Police Division while on stop and search intercepted a man along Iwo-Ojoo express road, whom they suspected the bag he was carrying contained incriminating objects.
The man who was later known as Waliu Opoola, was stopped for a search and when the bag he was carrying was searched, the following items were uncovered in the bag: two (2) locally made cut-to size guns, three (3) catridges, one blackberry and one LG phones, and the sum of eight thousand naira, including a spare key.
On interrogation, the police boss said he could not give a satisfactory account of how he came about the items.
