No fewer than four people were on Monday burnt at the busy Orita- Challenge area of Ibadan when gas explosion rocked the area .
It was gathered that the explosion which occurred about 3: 00pm also burnt two vehicles and one motorcycle popularly called "Okada".
The names of the four victims include Alhaji Yisa Oyelami ,Ismail Raji a taxi driver, Ahmed Raji who is an Okada rider and Sunday Paul .
All of them were quickly rushed to the private hospital , 'Lad Medical Centre ' in area for medical attention. It was revealed that the explosion occurred when a gas supply company , Hephzibah Petroleum Limited in the area was transferring gas from a tanker to it main cylinder and engulfed the two cars and one motor cycle.
As a result, men of Oyo State Police Command condoned the area off while the Chief Executive Officer of the company was been taken to the Orita- Challenge police station .
The Public Relation of the Oyo State Police , DSP Bisi Ilobanafor told Journalists at the scene that her office was informed around 3: 00pm by the Orita-Challenge Police Station about the explosion .
"Our anti-bomb section was alerted and sent an anti-bomb tanker to the place. On getting there we discovered that it was mere accident occurred as a result of transferring gas from main cylinder to a tanker.
"In the process a taxi cap and one other vehicle in the company and an okada was burnt through the explosion . "You see all the victims in the hospital I have been told that one of them by name Oyebami Mufutau had been referred to the University College Hospital , (UCH) for better treatment," she said.
The police image maker called on the people of the state not to panic but always report any suspected person or movement to the police in their areas .
The Chief Executive Officer of the company, Modupe Ademilua said that what happened in her company was just an industrial accident , adding that she was thankful to God that it was minor accident . She said the company had already paid the hospital bills of the victims.
