Armed Robbers Arrested at Hideout

The Oyo State police command arrested some suspected robbers on the 4th of July, 2014; at about 9:30pm. The arrest was sequel to a tip-off about a criminal hideout at a mechanic village around Iyana church area of Ibadan. The suspected robbers which include: Olaitan Ayodele, Abiola Alaba, Oyewole Ogunwole, Adedeji Mustaphar, Omooba Oyewole. They all confessed to their past and present crimes within and outside Oyo State.


The suspects equally confessed to have attacked and robbed two retired police officers and some other people, in a bid to get back some of their loots as well as their arms and ammunition, a search was conducted at the gang leaders house one  Olaitan Ayodele, along airport road Alakia Ibadan where the following exhibits were recovered: one pump action, one English-made cut to sized double barrel gun, one single barrel gun (locally made), sixty eight (68) rounds of live cartridges, two female wigs, a bunch of criminal charm, two gas cylinders, one burglarious instrument amongst others.

According to one of the suspects, Abiola Alaba, a 25-year-old man married with a kid, who claimed to be a vulcanizer, said, "I have only followed them to operate 4times only, it's the devils work, I will never try it again if I can scale through this" he said.

"Bad company corrupts good manners", said Adedeji Mustaphar who claimed he met with the others at a mechanic workshop where he was introduced to join them, and because life was miserable for him, he accepted to join.

According to the gang leader, Olaitan Ayodele, who claimed to be a bus driver, he advised youths to stay away from friends, “They turn you to a monster you never planned to be”. he said.

However, concerted efforts are in top gear to track down the remaining suspects, who are still at large, the Commissioner of Police, Mohammed Indabawa said.
