The family of late Hon. Olatoye Temitope Sugar during the press conference
The family of late Hon. Olatoye Temitope Sugar has challenged the woman who claimed to be the former landlady of the late lawmaker to show her face to the whole world if her allegation is true.
Speaking in a press conference, on Sunday 17 March, 2019, the elder brother to the late lawmaker, Hon Olajide Olatoye denied the assertion claimed by a certain landlady named Folake who has reportedly gone viral in painting the image of his late brother Hon Olatoye Temitope Sugar claiming that the late Sugar was a thug and a killer while leaving in her compound at Osiele, Abeokuta, Ogun state capital.
According to him, all the negative impression on the lawmaker were all false, they were only coined by late Sugar’s political enemies to tarnish his image even in his death.
Olajide further said “ The family’s attention has been drawn to several negative publications trending on the social media including photographs of the dying Hon. Sugar.
“We wish to maintain that all the negative impression about late Hon. Temitope olatoye sugar and the family started with the gruesome and horrific photographs published by the management of the University College Hospital Ibadan in collusion with the political enemies of late Hon. Temitope Olatoye Sugar on the 9th day of march, 2019.
“For the avoidance of doubt, late Hon. Sugar all through his stay at Osiele in Abeokuta, Ogun State before moving to his personal house lived in two different houses that were owned by landlords and had no tenancy relation whatsoever with the said Folake.
The family therefore maintained that all the attacks on late sugar were fake news and work of cruel minded persons whose aim is to drag the good name of the late philanthropist to the mud.
“We maintain also, that all these attacks on the person of late Hon. Olatoye Temitope Sugar are best described as fake news and handy work of mischief makers and political enemies of whose plan is killing to get cheap political advantages,” He stated.
Olatoye, Popularly known as Big Daddy also denied Sugar’s involvement in Bukki Boy’s death, ” He was tried and discharged by High court in Abeokuta when they found the truth that Sugar was not around Abeokuta when Bukie Boy was killed ”
Denying content of an audio release by a lady (Folake) who claims to be Hon Sugar Landlady, Jide said ” there is no iota of truth in folake’s claim. Adding that Hon Sugar throughout his stay in Abeokuta lived in two house before he moved into his own house in the state.
Corroborating Olajide’s claim Balogun Ajasa and Mr Adewumi Akeem, friends of the late Rep member in Abeokuta said Sugar was not a violent person, he was hardworking and a responsible person who hate injustice.
Balogun said ‘ He stay in my father’s house in Abeokuta and the land on which he built his house in Abeokuta was brought from my father and the landlady was “Oya mo like e” and not Folake, I challenged that Folake to come out and tell the world if she is sure of what she is saying .
” Balogun said further that ” Sugar is hardworking and nice, he is always committed to any course that he believes in, we use to go to farm together, anytime he comes back from school he was always at my workshop so i don’t know where people got the information spreading about him”.
The family however commended the police commissioner in Oyo state and the Deputy Inspector General of Police and other people involved in the case for their prompt action and urge them to ensure justice prevails.
He alleged that those in police net are the real killers of his brother
Hon Wole Akinleye, Secretary ,Olatoye Sugar Foundation OSF who also spoke at the conference said ” Already it is sad that his life was taken in cold blood but spreading fake information about him after his demise is inhuman.
