“The masterminds behind this plot are the party’s chieftains, from a S-West state and the opposition party”s candidate for the August 9 election in Osun.”

According to APC, sources from within the opposition party informed the APC that “there is great consternation within the party that for as long as Aregbesola is present and visible, the election cannot be rigged, so their last option to ‘win’, according to sources, is to take out completely the governor, and they needed the best professional killers in the world, this is why they have contracted the foreign firm..

“It is not clear if Abuja is involved in the plot, but sources say that security infrastructure in the country may not be unconnected,” APC said.

The APC recalled that it had alerted Nigerians and the international community of the party’s plans to militarise the state one week to the election and terrorise APC leadership and assassinate some of them.

However, the Director of Media and Publicity, Omisore Campaign Organisation, Mr Diran Odeyemi, said the APC was only raising the alarm due to alleged fear that the PDP’s candidate, Iyiola Omisore, has a strong political structure to effectively tackle the state’s ruling party in the election.

 Odeyemi noted that assassination allegation had become a reccurring decimal in the thinking of the APC, recalling that the party made a similar allegation that PDP planned to eliminate a former governor of the state who is now in APC, Senator Isiaka Adeleke.

 He said: “The claim of assassination plot is funny and absurd. APC should report their allegation to the SSS and other security operatives. The party should stop raising false alarm everytime and tell the people of Osun state new things they have in the kitty.”

  He repeated the position of the party that PDP and Omisore do not need to walk on people’s blood in its journey to the Government House after the governorship election which he said the party would win convincingly.

  He accused APC of keeping a killer squad whose alleged existence he said the PDP had reported to the appropriate.

  Odeyemi advised the party to search its soul very well saying the allegation of assassination plot against Aregbesoal was calculated to tarnish the image of the PDP and its candidate.

 He said the public was already aware of the propaganda machinery of the APC, stressing the party was jittery of alleged impending defeat hence it was making all effort to present Omisore in bad light in order to draw undue sympathy. It aadded that since the governorship race began and Omisore won the PDP’s ticket, the APC and its leaders had become uncomfortable.
