Newcastle United is reportedly considering a transfer for Manchester United attacker Juan Mata.

Mata’s current deal with United will expire at the end of next month.

The 31-year-old is widely anticipated to leave Old Trafford on a free transfer, and Barcelona has been gratified with an enthusiasm in the experienced attacker.

However, according to The Sun, Newcastle will move for the Spaniard if Rafael Benitez, whose own future continues to be the subject of speculation, stays on as head coach.

Mata previously played under Benitez when the 59-year-old was Chelsea’s coach.

The Spaniard, in nexus with Atletico Madrid had six goals and four assists in 32 appearances for United during the 2018-19 campaign.
