Spain and Barcelona midfielder, Xavi Hernandez has announced on Tuesday his retirement from international football.

"I have decided to leave the national team. I think my time there is up," the 34-year-old Barcelona player told a news conference.

Xavi Hernandez was born 25 January 1980 enrolled in La Masia, the Barcelona youth academy, at the age of 11. He made his first-team debut against RCD Mallorca on 18 August 1998. Xavi is considered to be one of the greatest midfielders of all time and among the best playmakers of his generation
