CEOAFRICA.com gathered that UK based Sky News cameraman was shot dead in Egypt while covering Wednesday’s clash between Soldiers and Pro-Morsi supporters in Cairo.

Sky News reported from its website that Mick Deane, 61, who had worked for Sky for 15 years, based in Washington and then Jerusalem, was shot inside the Rabaa al-Adawiya camp, where security forces have been trying to clear supporters of ousted President Mohamed Morsi.

According to Dean’s Producer at Sky, Samir Bazbaz, the cameraman was killed by a sniper.

"Michael was about to lift the camera on his shoulder (when) a sniper from the other side opened fired and killed him instantly. The moment he lifted the camera he was shot dead by a sniper." Bazbaz said.

Meanwhile, members of Sky News family have started paying tributes to the fallen staff. John Ryley, head of Sky News, described Dean as the very best of cameramen and a brilliant journalist.

Also, British Prime Minister, David Cameron has expressed shock over the death of Dean. Speaking via twitter, Cameron said, "I am saddened to hear of the death of cameraman Mick Deane, covering Egyptian violence. My thoughts are with his family and @SkyNews team."

However, the rest of the news team of the station was unhurt in Cairo.
