The National Association of Nigerian Students, South West Zone has applauded the Lagos State Governor, Babatunde Fashola, for reverting the tuition fee of the Lagos State University.

Fashola had increased the tuition which was N25,000 by over 700 percent.

After initial negotiation, tuition fee was reduced to between 34 to 60 per cent, but some of the students were not satisfied.

In a statement released on Monday by the Public Relations Officer of NANS South-West, Comrade Jeremiah Olatinwo, thanked the Lagos State Government for the reversal.

“The leadership of NANS Zone D wishes to commend the Executive Governor of Lagos State and his team for their giant stride, large heartedness and faithfulness to their promise by reverting to the old school fees structure of one of West Africa’s acclaimed citadel of learning, Lagos State University.”

The PRO thanked Barr. Femi Falana and other well meaning Nigerians who rose up and outrightly condemned the increament.

According to him, “Our profound gratitude goes out to our fathers and friends who in the spirit of comradeship stood strongly by us in the face of the struggle for the future of the students of LASU.

“To the students who despite the odds and pain, endured the fight, we say Viva Aluta.”

“One thing I am happy for is that we were victorious in our struggle for our colleagues in LASU. Political reason or not, he has done well to have listened to the plight of the people,” he said
