Delegates at the national conference today sat for barely 14 minutes and adjourn the meeting to Thursday.

The brief sitting was said to have been as a result of the position of the northern delegates who distanced themselves from been part of the new draft for a new constitution for the country. The stand of the northern delegates caused tension which made the chairman to adjourn the meeting.

In a few speech by the Chairman of the Conference, Justice Idris Kutigi before the adjournment, he appealed to all delegates to work together, saying that there was no draft constitution but mere amendment.

He asked delegates to study the documents given to them and send their observations to the conference secretariat for collation.

He asked the leadership of each group to meet him inside the office of the Deputy Chairman of the conference, Prof. Bolaji Akinyemi for a meeting.
