The Nigeria Police Force, Oyo State Police Command’s Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) has on Thursday honoured the presiding Bishop of the Victory International Church, Ibadan, Bishop Taiwo Victor Adelakun and his wife, Dolapo, with the Patron and Patroness awards respectively.
The honorary awards were given to the couple in their office at the church’s headquarters, Rehoboth Cathedral, Victory land complex, Oluyole Estate Extension, Ibadan, Oyo State.

In his statements, the Chairman, Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) Oyo State Command, Reverend Peter Omofoye described the honour as another opportunity to continue serving humanity in the state which the bishop has been doing.
He said “The award is just a signal to the great things you have been doing in Nigeria. People are watching you but you don’t know. You both deserved the honour”.
“The Police don’t partner with criminals, they partner with people of impeccable characters, people that are relevant in the society like you, for your great contributions towards the development of education in the state and the country” he said.
He stated that Bishop Adelakun has also contributed immensely towards changing many lives through his preaching and counselling.
Speaking further, Reverend Omofoye reiterated that the police cannot succeed without the PCRC and he is happy that the Inspector General of Police, IGP Muhammad Adamu has taken community policing very serious to enhance effective security operations in the country.
Reacting to the awards bestowed on him and his wife by the PCRC as the Patron and Patroness, Bishop Adelakun said “We appreciate the PCRC for the honour given to us. We valued greatly this award bestowed on me and my wife today”.

“When there is no security, there is no prosperity. The foundation for prosperity is actually security. So, when the nation is well secured then the security of that nation is guaranteed. The security of any nation should be taken seriously, and it is our collective responsibilities to ensure that” he said.
Bishop Adelakun further said “We says the economy is in trouble, it is because there is security problem. And we want to thank God for Oyo state on how God has been helping us and then, your cooperation in assisting and standing by the police to ensure peace in the state”.
He assured the PCRC that whatever they can do on their own part, they will surely do it, even without the recognition.
Bishop Adelakun however equally extends his greetings to the Oyo State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Shina T. Olukolu for his efforts in curbing the insecurity challenges in the state while he enjoined the Oyo state government to seek to the welfare of the PCRC and policemen in the state.
Meanwhile, the Police Public Relations Officer, Oyo State Police Command, SP O.L Fadeyi described the Bishop as one of the God’s general in our time.
He said, “God has been using him to train people especially in the area of discipleship which is the area God is highly interested in”.
Also, the Divisional Police Officer, Oluyole division, SP Femi Ogunnowo hoped with believe and confidence that the partnerships with the Bishop and his wife will take the PCRC Oyo State Police Command to the next level.
The DPO said, “When I came on board as the DPO Oluyole division, I met an array of partnerships in which Bishop did before I came. He is an instrumental to many things within Oluyole Division. He has assisted in repairing our police patrol vehicle which has been useful to us in patrolling the town to curb so many criminal activities”.
“We hope and believe he will do more to ensure a better community policing in the state” the DPO stated.

Peter Omofoye; the PCRC Administrative and Welfare Secretary, Mr. Badmus Omoniyi; Mr. Gboyega Akindele; Comrade Olusola Sola; Chief Sulaimon Fakola; Oladele Abiola; and other Chairmen of the PCRC branches in Oyo state.
