The comptroller of Nigeria Immigration Service, Oyo State Command NIS Saleh Abdullahi on Tuesday celebrated 12 retirees who have successfully completed years of service in office.
NIS Saleh commended the twelve retirees for their total dedication to the services of their father land.
The State comptroller made this statement while delivery his speech at the sent forth party organized by the Oyo State Command of the Nigeria Immigration Service, stressing that they started and ended well.
Congratulating the retiree, Abdullahi said “Whatever has a beginning must surely have an end. I congratulate you as you have formally pen down today in the history of Nigeria immigration service after having serve your fathers land for 30 – 35years or for those who attend the mandatory age of 60years you have contributed positively to the growth and development of Nigerian immigration service while you were in service you have left your footprints on sand of time.’ You came, you saw and you conquered”.
“I wholeheartedly congratulate you because you have started and ended well not everybody is as lucky as were today, some started well but did not end well, some had their appointment terminated, dismiss or forcefully retired but for you it’s a story of safe landing and we are therefore rejoicing with you”.
“You are retire but not tired, hence you have advice to still commit your talent, timing and benefit to whatever you enjoy doing, what people commend you for which must be stressfree as you are now senior citizen. You can not make a wrong choice if you are in good relationship with your God. Therefore, be at peace with God your creator, with yourself, family, neighbor and the community. Rest adequately, exercise moderately”.
“A period of retirement is a period of reduction in income. Above all, take care of your health so as to enjoy the fruit of your labour” he added.
One of the retirees, ACI Akintola Folusho while commenting on retirement, said that most of the people believe that leaving service is like being ask to go and die but to him they are transmitting from one phase of their existence to another phase.
He encouraged his fellow retirees not to allow retirement to push them into depression. He said that they should go for what they enjoy doing most by so doing, they will enjoy their retirement.
To the officers who are still in service, he enjoined them to do more than what they are paid for.
The twelve retirees who have successfully served their father’s land were given many gifts from the command.
